September Harvest: Lavender in a brown bag

We had a huge amount of rain in early September which is pretty uncharacteristic for this time of year. I was already nervous about getting root rot and the fact I haven’t trimmed off the flowers to help promote shrub growth. All this is making me skeptical that most plants won’t make it through the winter.

Rick and I were supposed to go up to the land on Sunday after we woke up from a small, late notice 40th birthday party we hosted for our friend Chris. However, Rick’s place of employment decided to have an executive committee visit early in the week so our plans flew out the window.

So……..I went shopping for the birthday supply decorations, cake, and presents on Friday. After that quick shopping spree – we went to the farm for a quick visit to get STUFF DONE. Rick mowed the lawn for 2.5 chilly hours, I harvested the living and dead flowers from the lavender, the dogs whined and cried for attention and we got it finished just as it was getting dark! This called for some food, drinks, and warmth.

We drove a skant .5 mile to Turbo’s for some well crafted adult beverages and their famous burgers. We also had the opportunity to watch the Milwaukee Brewers take a big win from the KC Royals to try and keep any playoff hopes alive. You need to check out Turbos! https://www.tripadvisor.co.nz/ShowUserReviews-g60233-d13144646-r573506310-Turbo_s_Bar-Richland_Center_Wisconsin.html

Needless to say, the short trip refreshed our spirits and renewed our inner peace. Maybe it was the Lavender I saved and threw in a brown paper grocery bag that helped calm us. Maybe it was a little of both?!
