I guess a healthy layer of snow will keep the soil warmer. So I guess it’s a good thing to have it AROUND the lavender plants. BUT I’m guessing having the snow on top of the lavender isn’t the best? Or so I’ve read in snippets here and there.

The fabric covering is supposed to allow sunlight for the plants. I spent some time removing the layer of snow and attempting to fix the covering on some of the plants that came off. After doing that, I believe that the sunlight could get through and the covering really prevents the Lavender getting harmed by harsh winter winds.

Unfortunately I couldn’t fix all the coverings on the plants so I’ve got a couple “test” plants to see how they are impacted by exposure to wind and snow! Let’s hope this winter continues to be mild!
While it wasn’t hard work, it was still bending over 42 plants to love them up and do what I can to mother them and get them through the winter. Only 3 months to go until spring!!
