2025 has been full of surprises, some good and some not so great. The winter was not kind to our crops as we lost 80% of our 600 plants, mainly due to a lack of snowfall, which provides much-needed insulation to our plants. Even though we took every precaution, as in past years, the lack of snow was the only variable and most certainly the culprit.
What to do next? Given our driven determination mindset, we decided to reimagine the lavender fields at the farm and expand from 600 to 1,500 plants. Let’s “Go for It” was the consensus to take this setback and use it to propel The Lavender Experiment LLC forward!
This will mean back-to-back years of limited harvest, (2025 & 2026) but the Summer of 2027 will be an abundant harvest, bigger than we have ever seen before. We will utilize the expansion to fuel our business and focus on the plant species that thrive in our Wisconsin climate. Phenomenal, Munstead, and Royal Velvet will be our main drivers. Phenomenal will be used to sell beautiful bundles, and the buds will be used in many of our products. Munstead will mainly be used to create Lavender hydrosol spray and essential oil with the new 60-liter copper distiller that was purchased from Portugal (Our new toy). Royal Velvet is a culinary lavender and will be used for goodies.
The business has experienced significant growth, with record-breaking sales days throughout the summer. We are building the brand, expanding our customer base, and establishing a credible presence in the communities we serve. We have invested in more infrastructure with a high-tech POS system with inventory and sales tracking to the sku, as well as capturing customer information for future marketing. Our focus is on continuing to attract new customers and encouraging repeat business.
Staci continues to innovate with new products and is finding new efficiencies in product production. She is so creative! Rick retired from corporate retail leadership this spring and now has time to pour more energy into The Lavender Experience.
We are taking lemons and turning that into lemonade and LOTS OF IT. LOL.
Thanks to all of our followers, our Lavender Lovers!
