So here I am writing again after a few months! Who knew a tiny tick would put me out of commission and into the hospital?

After working in the grass and fields to plant the Lavender, I pulled a Deer Tick off my thigh. This was in May. My symptoms started at the end of June and weren’t diagnosed until July 25th after I was hit with Bell’s Palsey.
My husband made me go to the ER where I got scolded for not coming in earlier in case it had been a stroke. So I promised that I would go in if this every happened again! I’m stubborn, okay?!
Needless to say, I went on antibiotics for a month. I now have an Infectious Disease Doctor (who is awesome) and I am feeling better than I have felt in months! NOW we are back at the Lavender working on plans for the future, whether it’s prep for the winter months or for future Lavender plots. I’m excited to be back at it!
Here are my tips:
- Use products with Deet (don’t put it on your skin)
- Do a “tick check” every night, don’t be afraid to be thorough (I thought my tick was a mole!)
- There’s early or late onset Lyme’s Disease – don’t be afraid to fight for your health, it took three ER visits to diagnose my Lyme’s Meningitis (it had entered my spinal fluid)
- Doxycylcin is a great antibiotic for this!
